3. Institute of Mental Health Community Addictions Management Programme (CAMP)
CAMP was launched officially on 21st April 2001. Its aim is to provide treatment for individuals with various addictions, including substance and behavioural addictions (e.g. compulsive gambling). The good news is that people DO recover from addictions. Recovery begins with the desire to change, and the person is more likely to recover with the right support. CAMP has a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, psychologists and counselors who can help. CAMP also works with numerous government and community based agencies to provide consultation and referral services.
Services include:
Providing medical and non-medical treatment for addictions
Organising educational and preventative education lectures to the public/community
Providing consulting services to other agencies and community groups
Providing training to local and regional practitioners
Working with community agencies to raise awareness of local addiction issues
Conducting research in local addiction issues
